Nicole Shane is a graduate of the Teachers’ Training Program at Canada’s National Ballet School and the recipient of the 2026 Sylvia M. McPhee Award, recognizing her dedication, achievement, and excellence in ballet teacher training.

She is a Registered Teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and an Associate Teacher with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD). 

Nicole has experience teaching students across a wide range of ages and levels, from young dancers and recreational students to those pursuing professional training. Through Canada’s National Ballet School, she has taught in the Young Dancers Program and Adult Ballet Program, as well as assisted within the Professional Ballet Program. She has also taught at Guangdong Vocational Academy of Art, where she worked with students in the school’s Professional Ballet Program. Her teaching in a professional training environment included developing students’ classical ballet technique, musicality, artistry, and performance quality while working within the demands of a pre-professional curriculum. This experience has strengthened her ability to adapt her teaching to different levels of technical development and to support students working toward professional careers in dance. 

Nicole’s teaching is grounded in strong technical foundations, musicality, artistry, and individualized instruction, with an emphasis on creating a positive, encouraging, and supportive environment for every student.

Nicole’s professional dance education includes Vaganova methodology and RAD and Cecchetti syllabi, with studies at leading institutions in Canada and Europe, including Canada’s National Ballet School, The Royal Ballet School, and The Royal Winnipeg Ballet. She completed her RAD Advanced 2 and Cecchetti Advanced 1 examinations with Distinction.
