Elliott Y.N. Cheung (he/him) is the Champion of Sunshine Nation 2026, an annual singing contest hosted by Fairchild Media Group. Born and raised on Coast Salish territory, he received extensive training in ballet, modern, tap, musical theatre, jazz, voice, and other genres at the Richmond Academy of Dance, where he now teaches.

He was a founding member of Dance Horizons’ cross-genre team, DHX, and pioneered the annual DHCollective fundraising performance gala. Expanding his career to Taiwan, he received his MA in Cultural Industries from the Taipei National University of the Arts before working as an transdisciplinary arts interpreter for organizations such as Tjimur Dance Theatre, Taipei Performing Arts Centre, and International Association of Theatre Critics (IATC) Taiwan, interpreting for prominent artists such as Boris Charmatz, River Lin, Ciwas Tahos, Prumsodun Ok, Shin Hanagata, Syaman Rapongan, and Yuma Taru among others. His theatre work “Homecoming” debuted at the Right-Click Playwriting Workshop with Isoneighbourland Theatre in Taipei, and was further selected for the Springboard Multilingual Creation Workshop with Vancouver Asian Canadian Theatre. Recent credits include an ensemble role in Gateway Theatre’s upcoming production of 42nd Street; CollabArt Creations’ 20th Anniversary gala; and Lachlan Wells’ music video “Let Me Know”.
